The program's overall record in that time frame was 22–111 (.165 win percentage). From the departure of Mangino to 2021, the Jayhawks struggled to meet the same success as under Mangino. The program saw a re-emergence under head coach Mark Mangino who won 50 games in eight seasons. KU's all-time record was 589–658–58 as of the conclusion of the 2020 season. The facility was built using only private donations from University of Kansas alumni, most notably David Booth. In 2019, immediately adjacent to the west of the stadium, the University of Kansas Football Indoor Practice Facility was completed. The track was removed in 2014, as the University's newly built Rock Chalk Park sports complex opened for use by the school's outdoor track and field team. Until 2014, Memorial Stadium was one of the few football stadiums in Division I that had a track encircling the field. The team's home field is David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, which opened in 1921 and is the seventh-oldest college football stadium in the nation. The program's first season was 1890, making it one of the oldest college football teams in history, and the oldest team in the state of Kansas. The Jayhawks are led by head coach Lance Leipold. The program is classified in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Bowl Subdivision (FBS), and the team competes in the Big 12 Conference. This new version of Ableton Live will come with some pretty impressive features right out of the proverbial (or literal, depending on how you purchase it) box. With hundreds upon hundreds of videos and articles documenting how much producers and artists love Ableton Live for what they need to do, you won’t need to look much further than a page or two on Google to find a starting point for getting to know Ableton Live. It requires some time to dig in and familiarize yourself with its functions and features, but once you have gotten the hang of it you might find it is the perfect DAW for your studio or live performance needs. Save for a few cosmetic differences and keyboard shortcuts, if you can use one you could stumble your way through the others. Most other digital audio workstations look nearly indistinguishable from each other. On its surface, Ableton Live appears to have a pretty steep learning curve. Live 9 came out in 2014, 9.5 in 2016, and 10 came out in 2018, so their release schedule is right on track with what they’ve been going for over the past few iterations of their acclaimed software. ABLETON LIVE 11 SUITE UPGRADE PRICE SOFTWAREIn what seems to be the year to announce and/or release new software updates ( Steinberg released Cubase 11 into the wild not even a couple weeks ago), Ableton joins the ranks with shiny new features and an even shinier new upgrade charge with Live 11. Until then, we have a glorious list of new features to study and look forward to. It will be here in the first quarter of the new year. Regardless of how you plan to use the software, Ableton Live 11 is here. While Ableton Live does have the typical horizontal layout, what they call the “Arrangement View”, of any other digital audio workstation you might come into contact with, Ableton also has a “Session View” that is designed just for live performances - something other DAWs have yet to integrate into their software. Namely, in the two ways it presents your tracks based on what you intend to use them for. A lot of the features of Ableton Live might look familiar if you are used to other programs, but there are some pretty important differences. Getting a chance to mess around with it before you fully jump in is a huge bonus. If you are searching for a DAW to get started with and you are not sure which direction you want to go, Ableton offers some very attractive pricing for the basic version of their Live software. ABLETON LIVE 11 SUITE UPGRADE PRICE PROIn a world that is largely dominated by the likes of Avid’s Pro Tools and Apple’s Logic software, Ableton has remained one of the top digital audio workstations in the game. Ableton has long been one of the golden standards in music production. And before you know it, you’ll have your body clock working like, well, clockwork again. And even if you’ve been out the night before. So ideally, try to maintain a wake-up time within a consistent 15-minute window every day. Unfortunately, this works against the way the body regulates sleep, and that can lead to frustration when you get into bed. It will be easier to wake up in the morning with less time hitting the snooze button. When you wake up at the same time every day and set a regular circadian rhythm, then you will have better sleep overall. Some of the key benefits of a consistent wake up time include Better Sleep. They go to bed at the same time each day and vary the wake-up time based on how they slept during the night. Setting a consistent wake up time has many benefits to your overall health and wellbeing. The results were published online May 26, 2021, by JAMA Psychiatry. Recent research supports the first part by suggesting people who regularly wake up an hour earlier than usual, without sleeping less, may be able to reduce their risk of major depression. This is actually the opposite of what most people assume is the best thing for their sleep. The saying goes that early to bed, early to rise makes one healthy, wealthy, and wise. An irregular wake-up time, whether that’s on the weekend, or after a bad night’s sleep, confuses your biological clock in just the same way - in fact, sleep doctors sometimes call this “social jet lag.” Obviously then, the best way to ensure that you’re sleepy at the same time each day is to wake up and get out of bed at the same time every day, even on the weekends. Our circadian rhythm is still on the schedule of our old time zone, so it’s lagging behind by something like an hour or more a day. We find we’re tired at awkward times, and we can’t sleep when we get into bed. The circadian rhythm doesn’t respond instantly, it adjusts gradually over several days, and this adjustment is exactly what’s happening when we experience jet lag. This is because your circadian rhythm, also known as your body clock, is guided by your wake-up time rather than your bedtime. People are often surprised when I tell them this, but if you want to sleep well on a regular basis, the single most important thing you can do is to have a consistent wake-up time. In conclusion, the available evidence supports that earlier sleep timing and regularity in sleep patterns with consistent bedtimes and wake-up times are.

The GPU is used (if hardware is supported) for processing to file and rendering Viewer-previews when adjusting an image. That should give us some solid numbers to go off. Sorry Grant I didn't explain myself very well, I meant the processing speed of OpenCL enabled/disabled makes little difference.Īnd LAZZA - it's in the preferences (Display OpenCL, Processing AutoCL)Ĭan you process 100 JPG's to a subfolder called CPU with OpenCL disabled then re-process the same JPG's in a new subfolder called GPU with OpenCL enabled and post the creation time-stamp of the first and last JPG in each folder? Or are you saying the time it takes to process files GPU vs CPU is marginal? Because you're right about that, and that's why OpenCL should stay enabled. Here's what I'm getting with OpenCL Disabled Wait CPU goes from 177.9% to 969.9% and that's marginal? Tried it with Auto CL disabled, does appear it uses more of the CPU and processing speed difference between enabled and disabled is marginal! The system doesn't even slow down, I can still shoot, check focus and process without any noticeable slow-down, however it does feel like you could squeeze the CPU a bit further? Opencl benchmark tool windows pro#Notice the spike at the end of the graph compared to C1 activityĪny thoughts on this? It does feel like the Mac Pro should be processing JPEG's much faster than it currently is. Opencl benchmark tool windows full#Here is a screenshot processing around 300 full res JPEG's (OpenCL Enabled): Opencl benchmark tool windows software#Only video software and fully optimized ones like JPEGmini Pro use 1200% when processing. It seems like there's a lot more room for improvement! I track my CPU performance using iStat Pro which shows all 6 cores (2013 mac pro), and during processing - either JPEG or full res tiff's, I never see C1 using 100% of each core at the same time - so 600% / 1200%. My findings are that with CPU only, all 12 cores get maxed. I know I and a lot of others would be interested in more of this information and transparency, it's great!Įxactly. This is fantastic information, Christian. With regard to the number of cores vs clockfrequency and so on, it's a complex question, so the simplified answer will be "the more of everything (cores, clock, cache) the faster", as we can utilize all cores when processing. This prevents the system from being so loaded/saturated, that you can still work in CO and other programs.' When running on GPU's, we use the CPU for loading raw-file into RAM, and for saving/compressing the processed files to disk. ĬO uses all supported and initialized GPU's found, even different models and vendors at the same time (we have a test-machine running here with 2xGTX780 and also using the embedded HD4600 GPU at the same time) Please note that CO uses openCL, not openGL. (for me it is hexacores and 2 graphic cards), or is it only the frequency of the processors which is significant? It would be interesting to know if C1 uses all cores, and one or two graphics cards together. To know the performance the benchmark on open gl is interesting but is one part of the performance. I don't mean to nitpick but there was no mention of 'x 1'.Ĭan you clarify whether this is an internal benchmark or something separate to C-1 entirely? 13:35:18> OpenCL : Initialization completed 13:35:18> OpenCL : Loading kernels finished 13:35:17> OpenCL Device : AMD Radeon HD 7950 Compute Engine Opencl benchmark tool windows for mac#My R270X in a 2011 Mac Pro runs as a 7950 when not flashed for Mac and pulls in at 0.11. We can use multiple GPU's but they are all benchmarked seperately, hence my "x 1".ĭoes this mean you don't take advantage of the Dual GPU's? The first that came on deck was a little cabin boy, That was cruising in the lowlands, lowlands, lowlands, They feared she would be taken by the Turkish enemy There was a gallant ship from the northern counteree,Īnd the name she went under was the Golden Vanity. In looking for clues as to the song’s possible origins and antecedents, I came across the Child Ballad 286, entitled “The Golden Vanity,” which bears some semblance to the subject matter and format of “Ship of Fools”: Kennedy Stadium in Washington, DC.Īs noted, “Ship of Fools” appeared on From the Mars Hotel, which was released on June 27, 1974. Blues” and “It Must Have Been the Roses.” It remained fairly steadily in the rotation from then on, with 227 performances, and had its final performance on June 25, 1995, at Robert F. “Ship of Fools” was first played on February 22, 1974, at Winterland Arena in San Francisco. In Hunter’s hands, as in Porter’s, the metaphor broadens, and makes itself available for a multiplicity of uses, depending on state of mind, state of the world, or stage of life surrounding the listener at any given point. The metaphor has been taken up again and again by a variety of artists through the centuries, ranging from Hieronymus Bosch to Katherine Anne Porter. But they have no pilot, and their journey is ill-fated. We have the medieval satire by Sebastian Brant, published in 1494, which uses the Ship of Fools as a metaphorical voyage of an entire fleet of ships populated by fools of various stripes, all sailing, supposedly, to the Paradise of Fools. The Ship of Fools is a literary archetype, of course, dating back as far as there have been ships, probably. Is the topic, really, a relation-“ship”? That would account for some of the ambiguity in the second verse-especially that wonderful line about being all of 30 years old. Ship of fools grateful dead how to#But then again, this captain has been noted to be “the strangest I could find.” So perhaps hiring someone on to learn how to sabotage one’s own ship would be within reason…Īs usual, right away, there are twists in the tale when it comes to Hunter’s narratives. On the face of it, the narrator doesn’t seem to be offering much of a bargain to said captain. I didn’t name it…) There’s a first-person narrator, who seems to be a prospective crew member on the ship, who confronts the captain of the vessel with a proposition. (I’m beginning to think that all the songs are stories-that maybe this blog is better-named than I might have thought at first. The song, to no one’s surprise, is a story. But as always, Robert Hunter’s lyrics don’t allow for a simple or narrow interpretation this song isn’t just about the failures of the US government, although I do think it could be partly about that. Blues,” and that has never struck me as an accident. “Ship of Fools” closes the album that opens with “U.S. Fools come in many guises, and the fact that everything comes down to human potential for error (or for greatness) means that anything we lend our hand to raise a flag atop can prove to be unworthy of those efforts. “Ship of Fools.” Haven’t we all had some time in our lives when we’ve been disappointed in the direction of our efforts? It may have been some strongly-held belief, or a church, or a cause of some kind, or even a nation that has not lived up to our expectations. I became disillusioned with the organization itself, which shall remain nameless, and later wrote a novel about the experience which I titled Though I Could Not Caution All (which shall remain unpublished). It was intense work, and I gave everything I had to it, working 18-hour days and establishing some excellent networks of members and organizers. When I finished college, I spent several years immediately thereafter working as a full-time volunteer organizer with a group doing work among the working poor, the disabled, and marginalized communities around California. (I’ll consider requests for particular songs-just private message me!) Ship of fools grateful dead free#Therefore, the best part, I would hope, would not be anything in particular that I might have to say, but rather, the conversation that may happen via the comments over the course of time-and since all the posts will stay up, you can feel free to weigh in any time on any of the songs! With Grateful Dead lyrics, there’s always a new and different take on what they bring up for each listener, it seems. Here’s the plan-each week, I will blog about a different song, focusing, usually, on the lyrics, but also on some other aspects of the song, including its overall impact-a truly subjective thing. |
